Cross Country
It was wonderful to have all our staff and students return to Somerly Primary School last week, just in time for our year 3-6 students to participate in the Somerly Cross Country event. Congratulations to all the students who ran their best and completed the course and to those who have qualified to compete in the Interschool Cross Country at Quinns Rocks Primary School on Friday 10th May.
ANZAC
I was very proud to attend the Cambrai Village ANZAC service on the 25th April with two of our Student Councillors and our School Board Chair Mr Turnbull. The students represented Somerly Primary School by participating in the wreath laying service. We further acknowledged the memory of the ANZACs on Friday 3rd May. Our Student Councillors did an amazing job in hosting the ceremony. Invited guests attended - Mrs Tracey Roberts Federal Member for Pearce, Mr Mark Folkard MLA Member for Burns Beach, Councillor Helen Berry from City of Wanneroo, Mr Harry Turnball School Board Chair, Mrs Brie Cutuli P&C President, Mr Daniel Jarvis, Ms Janelle Smith and Mr and Mrs Ventham. We were also very fortunate to have two military horses visit and allow our children to pat them and to talk to the Officers who rode the horses. Our students were very respectful during the service. We were very privileged to have Mrs Lyn Lawrence share her family story.

If your child arrives after 9:00am you are required to enter through the front office and provide us with a reason for the lateness. A late slip will be printed for you to give to the class teacher.

National Walk Safely to School Day 2024
Somerly Primary School is taking part in National Walk Safely to School Day, supporting National Road Safety Week on Friday 10 May 2024.
Walk Safely to School Day also encourages positive environmental action, better use of public transport with reduced car dependency and encourages parents and carers to walk more, reducing dangerous traffic congestion around schools.
Being active every day, including walking to school, can make a difference for many Australians. Whether you’re a parent, teacher or carer – everyone has a role to play in helping children and young people to lead active, healthy lives.
