To enrol your child into Somerly Primary School please complete and submit an ‘Application for Enrolment’. Once your child’s enrolment has been accepted, you will then be required to complete our official enrolment documentation.
Somerly Primary School is a local intake area school. This means all children living within the school’s local intake area are guaranteed a place at the school. We only accept enrolments from outside of our local intake area in exceptional circumstances.
Step 1. Application for Enrolment
- Parents should complete the Application for Enrolment and email it, along with all required supporting and/or additional documents to the School Office.
- Parents must complete a separate enrolment application for each student.
- To help determine the appropriate year level for your child, we encourage parents to use the School Age Calculator.
- Submitting an Application for Enrolment does not guarantee you will receive a place at the school.
- Please submit the Application for Enrolment in a Western Australian Public School (Primary) together with the following supporting documents:
Immunisation Requirements
Evidence of your child’s age and residence is required when submitting an application to enrol your child in a public school. This evidence includes:
1. Birth Certificate
2. Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement that is not more than two (2) months old
3. Proof of address – (a Rates Notice OR Tenancy Agreement AND two (2) recent utility bills – gas, water, or electricity)
4. Copies of Family Court or any other Court Orders (if applicable)
5. Information relating to suspensions
6. Information relating to a health or medical condition, disability or additional needs (if applicable) AND
7. If your child is not a permanent resident of Australia, you must provide evidence of the current visa subclass and previous visa subclass and passport.
Your child can only go to Kindergarten when they meet Western Australia’s immunisation requirements. This helps to better protect our children and community from vaccine-preventable diseases. The same immunisation requirements apply to Kindergarten at a school, a community kindergarten and a childcare service. Proof of Residence
Principals may accept a maximum of three of the following as evidence of residential address:
- utilities payment advice
- lease agreement – minimum lease of three months
- proof of ownership of property (for example rates notice, deeds, mortgage)
- driver’s licence
- statutory declaration

Step 2. Student Enrolment Form
Once your Application for Enrolment is approved, the school will contact you to complete the Student Enrolment Form, the Student Health Care Summary and any necessary consent forms.
Step 3. Meeting with Admin
Once the School Office have received the Student Enrolment Form, the Student Health Care Summary and any necessary consent forms they are passed on to our Admin team who will arrange a meeting or telephone call. A translator can be booked to support you with the meeting as required.
During the meeting or phone call information relating to your child’s academic and social development will be discussed to share with your child’s new classroom teacher and to allow us to put in appropriate supports as required. You will be provided with a start date and details of which class your child will be joining and who their teacher will be.
Step 4. Your Child’s First Day
The day of your child’s agreed start you will be met at the front office and shown to your child’s classroom.
